Gantry crane training teaches a person to inspect, rig and run a gantry crane safely and to follow the OSHA rules for overhead and gantry cranes. All Purpose Crane Training runs the course on-site at your facility anywhere in the United States, or at our location, for individual operators and company crews.

The course is for any person who will operate a gantry crane at work: new operators, experienced operators who want a refresher, and the supervisors who decide who may run the crane. Companies can train a whole crew together at their own site, and individuals can join a class at our location.
The class mixes classroom lessons, demonstrations and hands-on practice. Topics include:
Safety runs through every part of the class. Operators practice checking the crane before each shift, staying within the rated load, keeping clear of people and obstacles in the crane's path, and using the emergency stop and shut-down steps.
In general industry, gantry cranes fall under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179, Overhead and Gantry Cranes. This rule says only designated personnel may operate a crane it covers, and training is how most employers decide who to designate. On construction sites, overhead and gantry cranes are covered by 29 CFR 1926.1438 in Subpart CC, Cranes and Derricks in Construction.
